The Book of Exodus offers a vision of freedom: choosing to take on spiritual commitments. If we read its stories creatively—as classical Jewish teachers did—we find a broad vision of an ethical life. For example, the plague of locusts teaches about creation care. Drought in the wilderness calls Miriam to leadership. And animal metaphors point us to a vision of treaty. Together, we will explore those calls to action through study, discussion, reflective meditation, music, and a little dancing (if you’re up for it).
