In this series of five evenings, we will prayerfully probe the daring and hope-filled book by the late Catholic theologian Monika K. Hellwig, Guests of God: Stewards of Divine Creation. Written in 1999, her words echo into the present with deep awareness of the challenging life of faith to be lived in our neighborhoods and communities. How are Christians and people of good will—where we live now—working together in God’s world to meet the needs of the poor and the earth? How can we imagine together a new agency as the body of Christ for our times?
Through reading, reflecting, and faith-sharing we will be inspired to see with new eyes, reflect on new ways, and choose to act wisely as ‘Guests of God’ for the communities and neighborhoods where we live. Hellwig invites us to hear God’s call for deeper conversion and to live with deeper awareness and agency as ‘Guests of God’ for the common good.
