The summer season gives us rain, the sun’s warmth, and the greening of life everywhere, constant reminders of God’s gifts of light and love for us and creation. Summer is another sacred moment of opportunity to let go, rest, breathe and garden our hearts and the earth with nourishing food for life. At The Star, we have been busy drawing together a fall program to invite you into gleaning the garden of your life.

In June, we completed our first year of Aurora Living: Formation Through Word & Creation. It was a time of celebration and awe at the teachings, transformations, and gifts we received together. Aurora Living continues this fall with our next module entitled “Psalms: Singing Both Joy & Lament” where guests such as Steve Bell, Margaret McKeon, & Ron Rolheiser will help us dive into songs and poetry expressing our human condition and intimacy with God.

In late June, a hardy band of Star supporters walked their own spiritual Camino and raised upwards of $16,000... with donations still coming in! We give heartfelt thanks to the walkers and their sponsors and donors for a generous “walk” for The Star to help support our retreats and ministry.

This coming fall you will see an increase in costs for retreats in keeping with the rise in costs for The Star. We will continue to provide scholarship or bursary funds for those who want to come for retreats but find the prices unaffordable, and we invite anyone blessed with more to support those with less. Your financial support of others so that they have time of personal rebuilding or formation at The Star of the North is a practice of justice because it promotes life of Spirit in the soul. We are grateful for and trust in God’s faithfulness through and with you.
