Following Jesus in the Ruins of Empire: Public Lecture with NT Scholar Dr. Sylvia Keesmaat How do we live in the ruins of empire? The early church struggled with this question as they attempted to form small alternative communities shaped by Jesus to challenge the violence and injustices of the Roman empire. Perhaps as we explore their story, we might gain wisdom for following Jesus in our own time. Public Lecture (in-person or online) – Friday, January 19. Cost: $20. Wandering Home: Renegotiating Spiritual Home & Belonging with facilitator Becky Moritz-Bonham, is a unique 5-week group journey for people who have lost a sense of home with their spiritual communities, and/or God. It is an experiential group in which members can form a safe community to renegotiate spiritual themes of loss, longing, and belonging. Bridges to Contemplative Living – Join this 9-week contemplative dialogue group facilitated by Anita Allsopp which engages the teaching and practice of Thomas Merton toward spiritual transformation. Prayer for Christian Unity: Liturgy & Luncheon The 2024 theme of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is “Love the Lord your God… and your neighbor as yourself.” Join an ecumenical prayer gathering followed by a simple fellowship luncheon.
