To be involved for the common good at any level of society is to exercise social love. God empowered us for service.
“Love, overflowing with small gestures of mutual care, is also civic and political, and it makes itself felt in every action that seeks to build a better world. Love for society and commitment to the common good are outstanding expressions of a charity which affects not only relationships between individuals but also... social, economic and political ones.”

Releasing the Paschal Power of the Cross: A Lenten Retreat on the Great Triduum and the Joy of the Cross this retreat will help us experience Lent as a spiritual journey to the new life of Easter by exploring the deeper meaning of this great Paschal Mystery or Triduum. With the help of keynote presentations, biblical and Indigenous art, music and ritual, this retreat will help participants recover the vibrant dynamism of our faith in Jesus as Crucified Messiah and Risen Lord. Enjoy a prayer walk through our Lenten exhibit: Kisemanito Pakitinasuwin - The Creator’s Sacrifice. This powerful set of 17 large prints by late Cree artist Ovide Bighetty depict the passion of Jesus Christ and are arranged in a contemplative "stations of the cross"–style in the main hall. Expect an informative, formative and transformative experience. Register at www.starofthenorth.ca/lent or call us at 780-459-5511.
Healing the Healers: Last Call for Registrations
Module One: Understanding Spiritual Suffering — March 18-19, 2022
Registration deadline: March 15, 2022 at 3:00 pm
Spring is coming and with it is a NEW SERIES of the world-acclaimed Healing the Healers.
We are all familiar with physical pain and suffering. What about emotional and spiritual suffering? How do we understand this? How has the pandemic the last two years and current world events affected us and caused us and others suffering?
The Healing the Healers Series addresses spiritual and emotional pain and suffering within four key aspects: meaning, forgiveness, relatedness, and hope. Learning about these helps us face or ‘lean into the pain’ that results when we are suffering in one of these key areas of our lives.
Each workshop is interactive, inspirational and a learning experience. The knowledge draws from the wisdom of our ancestors that the quality of life is enhanced when we do not live in fear of denial of suffering and of our own mortality.
You won’t want to miss this opportunity! Click to register at www.starofthenorth.ca/healing-1 or call 780-459-5511.
